Everywhere these days, Street Art has become an essential part of our cities, social media, television, and more. It is also a rising contender in museums and the corporate world, as shown by acquisitions from the Centre Pompidou and the Renault Endowment Fund for Art and Culture. Street Art draws its richness and creativity from its proudly embraced diversities of styles and techniques, sources of inspiration and media of expression…
In GraffitiART #79, we explore hyperrealism and those moments when the boundaries between creation and reality blur, when art blends into the everyday. When it surpasses what the eye can perceive, realism becomes fascinating, inspiring, and even unsettling.
On the talent side, this issue shines the spotlight on Lady Pink, the first lady of Graffiti, who draws inspiration from everyday life in the New York borough of Queens, and the late Miss.Tic, whose catchy phrases and feminine forms have adorned our walls for more than four decades. Alongside these pioneers, Wenna shares her poetry inspired by Chinese mythology, César Malfi revisits ancient representations, and Poes & Jo Ber are always in search of ancient civilisations. As for Alex Senna, his black-and-white illustrations advocate for cultural diversity.
Last but not least, the We Are Here exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris has been extended until January 2025, and Speedy Graphito takes over Fluctuart with his show La Grande Illusion.
