Street art is often depicted as the commercial and mainstream side of graffiti. However, many street artists claim a subversive and political dimension to their work, based in the practice direct action in the public space as well as civil disobedience. Our century has forged a neologism for this movement, which goes beyond the frontiers of urban art: it called it artivism.
