Sculpting wrecks
Interview / Emmanuelle Dreyfus
Some plant trees and others, like Dan Rawlings, prefer to sculpt them out of metallic wrecks. Behind such dexterity and finely cut patterns hides a self-taught artist who started his career at 30 and now reveals the unbalance between Men and Nature with poetry. Extinguishers, traffic signs, cars, trucks, and even a plane for the Urban Nation museum of Berlin, nothing can resist the vegetal imagination of the English artist, or his blowtorch.
